Bead weaving is the craft of attaching beads to one another by the use of a needle and thread. If you want to get started with bead weaving here is what you need to know.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: I strive to be your jewelry making free resource finder, so before we start getting into the details I want to warn you that you will come across plenty of off-site links, so please be sure to bookmark this page so you can always come back and continue learning.
- Basic Tools Needed:
- Basic Pliers Set: The basic set includes a Chain Nose Pliers, Round nose pliers, Flat Nose Pliers and Cutter Pliers.
- Beading thread: thin, strong fiber line used to stitch beads together in bead-weaving projects. To be able to use beading threads for beadwork, you will need to wax the thread; however I recommend that you use the Fireline brand as you can skip this step.
- Seed Beads: to view Different types, sizes, and finishes of seed beads please click here (this link is for subscribers only, but subscription is free).
- Beading needles: Unlike sewing needles, the eye of a beading needle is almost as narrow as the shaft. The needles are most frequently found in sizes #10 - #16. The thinner the needle, the higher the needle number. #10 needles are usually used with size 6/0 to 11/0 seed beads, #12s with 8/0 to 13/0 seed beads, #13s with 11/0 to 15/0 seed beads, #15s with 15/0 Charlottes, and #16s with 16/0 to 24/0 seed beads.
- Basic Findings: Findings are components, usually made of metal, used to finish, connect, space, or embellish jewelry. To learn more about the different types of findings, please click here (this link is for subscribers only, but subscription is free).
- Review the basic Beading Stitches: You will need to get comfortable with the basic beading stitches before you start any beadwork project. This will prevent you from wasting materials and time. Click here to learn the different beading stitches.
